I thought it would be a good book to read during our travels, but I finished it quickly because I just wanted to know what happens. I had to tell myself I couldn’t read it one day because I had read for a few hours the day before and I am supposed to be spending time with family.

It is a love story with vampires… Stephenie Meyer’s goal was to write fantasy with a completely human scenario and believable characters. She did just that. Everyone seemed so real yet they couldn’t be! …could they?!

Darin’s parents came into town and we decided we needed to visit the long forgotten Goodwood.  Remember how delicious it is?  SO DELICIOUS!  I (Nada), of course, had the pulled pork sandwich (as always).  Darin ventured for 3 different meats, including a fabulous sausage.  Mom Payne indulged in the sirloin and Dad Payne devoured the prime rib.  They were really slow getting us drinks and salads, computer problem, so they gave us free dessert!  Now that’s service done right!  Let me to you, their pecan pie is melt-in-your-mouth AMAZING!  If you’ve never tried it, you would love it!  I now crave it fortnightly!

Anyways, what was your favorite part of conference?

Well I finished The Memory Keeper’s Daughter and I just couldn’t stop reading it. Darin complained that all I was doing was reading that book…but I beg to differ! I have to say that it is an interesting story, and the whole time I kept wanting things to be different, wanting everyone to know the truth. I think that is what the author is trying to do, she gives you two parallel lives and you wonder what they would be like if they were connected, which some wonder in the book too! So I am trying to give this book a great review, but if you don’t like having an internal struggle with the way the characters behave, then don’t read this book! Mom, I think you would like it! (That’s Mom Whitaker and Mom Payne!)

Let’s just say I wanted to run away from it. Blah, didn’t really enjoy the 1/3 of it that I read. I usually finish a book to see the whole picture, but I couldn’t really get into it. It moved back and forth between his sad reality and his sad past…nothing in it really grabbed my attention.  Maybe I couldn’t just couldn’t connect to his life or his struggles.

I checked it out from the library on Monday, and finished by Thursday night. It is a really good romantic comedy, with an ending that makes you smile while you read it. I would consider this book a fun read for all the ladies!  Check it if wanna get wrapped up in a cinderella story! Here’s the excerpt from the back:

“Nola Devlin has a secret identity. By day she is an overweight, frumpy, and overlooked editor at Sass! (the “celebrity magazine with an edge!”), but by night she slips behind her keyboard and into her alter-ego: Belinda Apple. Belinda is thin, gorgeous, British and the author of a trendy advice column— she is, in effect, the latest Carrie Bradshaw. Not even her two best friends or her self-absorbed sister (who worships Belinda as the “sister she never had”) know her secret.
When “Belinda” jots off a column about how easy it is to lose weight, Nola is shocked when her best friends take her own lies to heart and urge her to follow Belinda’s weight loss program. Since Nola can’t reveal herself as the real Belinda Apple, she bites the bullet and joins her friends in making the “Cinderella Pact” — a last ditch attempt to lose weight (again!) and transform their lives for good.  But as the pounds come off, things don’t turn out the way the three friends expect. Their journey of self-discovery leads to the rediscovery of an old love and the unmasking of new problems. Meanwhile, Nola finds herself torn between two different men as she stomps out fires caused by her deception as Belinda Apple and falls in love with the man who just might be her prince — or the rat in coachman’s clothing.”
