An Awesome Read…

Wow. This is a great book. I loved it. If you have just a bit of time each night, you’ll finish this book in a week, yet you won’t be able to stop thinking about it. It’s all about forgiveness, giving a greater insight into the Atonement of Jesus Christ. It really touched my heart. I mean, its pretty much an eye-opening lesson but written through a captivating story, where if you are like me you want the characters to get to that happy ending and you love watching the them discover the steps they need to take, all the while it’s teaching me to do the same thing. Thanks Steph for loaning me such a good book! It’s a must read for all, and definitely a reread throughout my life! I am thankful for the greater understanding I now have of the Savior’s sacrifice and how the Atonement should work in my life. Sometimes I need a read just like this, it makes me look at everything in a new and BETTER light. He truly does give us peace and only through Him can we be forgiven.

Well, I am happy to be back in the saddle, hunting deals! Today I got all this for $10.75 and that’s because $4.69 of it was tax, so really I go it all for $6.06!! Awesome! I mean diapers, 2 Neutragena sunscreens, 4 body washes, hair products, paper towels, and candy (that we don’t need and will no doubt become gifts) all for just six bucks, woohoo! Thanks to CVS and RiteAid deals, Southernsavers.com, and COUPONING!

I talked with a great friend/hot momma the other night after Bunco and she is couponing her way to Italy! I love it! Since there are less people in her home, she has kept the same food budget but started couponing and ALL the savings go towards a a trip to Italy in 2012! How great is that?! I decided we are couponing to keep our school debt to a minimum… then we will be couponing to PAY OFF the school debt and maybe one day we too will coupon our way to Europe!

I love saving money and hear about others saving money and helping others save money…

i think it’s time…

Darin and his buddies have been putting together a website for PT/OT students, current and future. and quite possibly for PT/OTs working too! so just go take a look at their hard work… www.rehabstudents.com …please. and let them know what you think… even if you aren’t going into PT/OT… at least read the great article about life as a PT student written by my fabulous husband. and if you feel so inclined, just add it as a link on your blog/site!

and can I just brag for a minute… he is 2/3 the way done, making pretty much all A’s, class president, often group leader on projects, working on this website, executive secretary at church, a huge help at home for me, a great Dad to his kids, and a wonderful participant in MANY a family outing… I love him. I am SO PROUD!

Splurge Week!

Well, for those of you who know me best, I am a cheapskate. BUT this was the week of splurges! It started off with getting a pool. Something that Luke could play in and keep cool while running around outside. It also had to be something that baby sister would be able to get in next summer too! So we got the double pool with whale slide and water spouting dolphin… not too deep, great for wading, splashing, and climbing in and out… which is what Luke did!

He loves showing off his pool to anyone who comes over! He also loves throwing balls in the water to make big splashes… the basketball is the best, but let’s not bring that up with Darin (I wasn’t thinking about how Darin’s good basketball isn’t supposed to get wet…oops!)
Then Christina came over on Wednesday and volunteered to babysit Luke if we went to Transformers 2. You probably know I never pay full price for a movie, but I knew Darin wanted to see it, and it would be fun to go out, so I said yes.

We thought it was pretty good. There was some unnecessary language and adult jokes that we would have loved to do without. It was action packed and pretty fun all around. It didn’t really feel like 3 hours. and of course we love robots.
Friday, we took Luke to the Farmer’s Market downtown. We bought fresh peaches and a watermelon. Luke had a blast picking out the fruit and playing in the water fountains!

And last but not least, we splurged a little on our grocery budget this week to get food for an awesome party. We had hamburgers, hot dogs, steak kabobs, our yummy farmer’s market watermelon, chips, delicious salads brought by friends, squash, grapes, chips, cookies and lots of lemonade. We had friends and family join us Saturday afternoon to eat, play and hang out… just a little fun before Darin heads out of town for his internship in Utah (he leaves Thursday). Of course, you know me I didn’t take any pictures of the party, just great memories!
Yay for splurges that don’t break the bank, but provide a lot of fun!

The Family Eggstravaganza …

We had a busy fun weekend with the family and we thought we’d share some of the good times. We did a pretty good job of quality family time. We spent the week talking about Jesus and the resurrection, not sure what Luke really gathered, but he does recognize Jesus and he likes to say prayers all the time now!

Friday kicked it off with Girl’s Day Out for lunch, shopping, laughs, and good old girl talk.
Then we met up with the boys, Lara and her parents at the Family Golf Center for some go-carts, mini-golf and batting cages. …no pictures from me and DON’T get the YELLOW one, no matter WHO tell you its the fastest! Then we headed back to the new house for pork tacos, decorating cookies, card games, and lots of laughs!

Saturday morning was busy with yummy breakfast – SCONES , a cousin egg hunt, and visiting the local Easter carnival, all before the sun decided to come out! Luke knew there were “toots” in the eggs and he just wanted to get to them… after he filled his mouth with jelly beans, he decided to load his arms up with more eggs, as pictured. That night we devoured delicious steak and fries at Aaron and Dawn’s and watched Seven Pounds… a movie that left me sad and happy at the same time, Darin didn’t like how it made him feel… he couldn’t quite describe it!

Luke was excited to see his bucket full of stuff Easter morning. He really only wanted the sucker, but he now has a new favorite book… Mickey’s Book of Trucks (we read it a dozen times a day!). I didn’t get him a new outfit, but I dressed in him his plaid shorts and green tie for church and he was adorable, ask my mom to see the picture on her cell. He joined my sunbeam class to talk about the first Easter and the importance of the resurrection of Christ.

We finished the evening with dinner at the folks and a little egg dying fun. Luke was definitely wiped out from two late nights in a row. He slept a solid 12 hours Sunday night and then took a 3 hour morning nap on Monday! I forgot to get a family picture of us this weekend, darn… I’ll work on that!

Oh and I made this necklace holder for myself this week, and I’m kinda of proud of what I created using things from around the house! My necklaces were just a tangle in my jewelry box, but not anymore… someday my walk-in closet will include a whole wall for jewelry…hahaha!

Easter Adventures Begin!

Well, Luke got an Easter package from Grandpa and Grandma Payne this week. He was so excited!! He loves his new giraffe backpack, had to give the “rafe” lots of kisses and wore it on his back all morning, until nap time! He even recognized the giraffes on his new outfit. THANKS GRANDPA & GRANDMA!!

Luke went to his first Easter egg hunt on Saturday. He got THREE eggs! (It was the first time this place had done a hunt, so it wasn’t very organized… they let 6 and under go first (like Luke can compete with 6 year olds!), and then the older kids, some of which didn’t get anything…but Luke didn’t care, you can see he was looking for the “treat” inside the egg, and he was content with his piece of chocolate!) The exciting thing was the GOLDEN EGG Luke found (with a little motherly help)! He got a prize for finding it, which turned out to be a butterfly net and bug house. He thought it was pretty cool for at least 5 minutes. Then we rode the train around the historical home… but it was really bumpy so Luke didn’t really think it was cool, the girls in the cart with us loved it though! Now when he plays with our plastic eggs at home that I put out for decoration, he is sad that he can’t ever find one with a treat in it! Oh well, this Saturday and Sunday will provide lots of Easter treats for him!

Woooooohoooooo!

WE GOT THE HOUSE!!! Our new address will be the same as before, because my parents actually bought a house and we will be renting the old one from them! I am so excited, for everyone! They will be closing on the house by the end of February, and we will move them in that weekend. Darin, Luke and I will have a lot of house here for three, but it will be great to have our own home. So I’m sure you’d rather hear about the house my parents are buying, right?! Well, it is gorgeous. Only 2 years old, four bedroom, three and half bath (can you believe that… they will have so much free time, now that they don’t have to wait for the bathroom!), study, dining, living, and bonus room. Oh and the kitchen is huge and beautiful and we think it has enough cabinet space for all my mom’s stuff, finally! I love the dark hardwood floors (but carpet upstairs and in the master suite, good for cold toes)! I don’t really know how excited my dad is since he is still out of town, but I’m sure he peed his pants, jk. I almost did!

Watering the Carpet!

To begin, you must know that Luke loves to run away when I change his diaper (the birthday suit is the best). Well, he got up and ran after I wiped his bum and before I grabbed him, he stopped. I looked up to see him pee on the carpet, with that sweet look of innocence on his face. I could barely stop laughing to strap him into a diaper and clean up the mess! BOYS!
